Materials & Tools

materials I work on canvasses, heavy weight papers (water color paper, acrylic paper), canvas boards and any kind of wooden boards (hardboard). This gives a stable support for using acrylic paint, gesso, modeling paste, acrylic mediums, texture gels and collage items.

I apply the colors with painting knifes, brushes, palette knifes, scrapers, foam rolls, sponges, brayers, and sometimes only with my hands.
Besides graphite pencils, charcoal, colored pencils and oil pastels my tools especially for collage techniques are scissors, cutting knifes, stamps, stencils, and different types of glue.

I use a wide array of colorful and unique papers (found-, manufactured and handmade). Additionally, I often add other textural materials (cloth, metal, bark, hessian, corrugated cardboard) and found objects from nature (shells, drive wood, strings, rusty metal fragments, feather, pebbles) to build up my composition.

I paint, mix, roll, scrape, wash, throw, pour, glue, scratch, print, rub, press, splatter, mix, drip, glaze, rub …until I’m satisfied with my composition.

Joy in experimenting and no fears for getting dirty fingernails are the conditions for success.
